CRANE OPERATOR

Due to continued success and growth of the company, we are looking to recruit an experienced Crane Operator.  The candidate will play an important role within the Mechanical Build Team and will be responsible for operating a 130 tonne Grove mobile crane for mechanical installations and maintenance of various types of wind turbines.

Location: Throughout Ireland and Great Britain.  The candidate will work predominately on projects in Northern Ireland and will be occasionally required to work on projects in Republic of Ireland and Great Britain in accordance with the needs of the business.

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time 

Responsibilites include but not limited to:

  • Operating crane and hoisting mobile equipment to lift, move and position wind turbine components for mechanical installation and maintenance of various types of wind turbines
  • Ensuring correct and safe lifting practices are followed as per approved method statements
  • Being aware of any site conditions that could affect the crane operation
  • Completing daily checks/paperwork on crane
  • Reporting of faults and accidents to management using the correct procedure
  • Always complying with the Company's Health and Safety procedures
  • Ensuring at all times the vehicles are driven and maintained to the standards laid down by the Road Transport / Traffic Legislations and Company's instructions
  • Undertaking any other duty deemed as necessary by Management, to ensure efficient running of the business

 

Essential Criteria:

  • At least 5 years' experience of operating mobile cranes
  • Must hold a valid CPCS competent operators card / Blue plant card endorsed as a crane operator
  • Must hold a valid CSR card
  • A strong health and safety awareness on site at all times
  • Ability to work as part of a team, building positive relationships with colleagues
  • Good co-ordination skills
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Be highly motivated and have a forward thinking productive attitude
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and ability to travel and stay overnight in Great Britain when required
  • Must hold a valid UK driving licence
  • Must have permanent living accommodation in Northern Ireland

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Slinger / Banksman qualification
  • Appointed Persons qualification
  • Mechanically minded with regards to routine maintenance of the machine
  • Experience of operating a crane for installing wind turbines would be advantageous

HGV Class 2 Driver / Crane Operator

Due to continued success and growth of the company, we are looking to recruit an experienced HGV Driver with Crane Operator certification. The candidate will be responsible for delivering and collecting components, plant machinery and equipment. Primary role will be as a HGV Driver, however due to the nature of the business the candidate will be expected to be multi-skilled and conduct other tasks designated by management including operating a 130 tonne Grove mobile crane.

  • Location: Throughout Ireland and Great Britain. The candidate will work predominately in Northern Ireland and will be occasionally required to work in Republic of Ireland and Great Britain in accordance with the needs of the business.
  • Salary: Negotiable

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Loading, securing, delivering and off-loading various components and machinery
  • Ensuring all deliveries and collections of components and machinery are completed in a safe and timely manner
  • Operating mobile crane and HIAB extendable crane to erect, install and maintain various types of wind turbines
  • Ensuring correct and safe lifting practices are followed as per approved method statements
  • Completing daily checks/paperwork on lorry and crane
  • Reporting of faults and accidents to management using the correct procedure
  • Always complying with the Company’s Health and Safety procedures
  • Ensuring at all times the vehicles are driven and maintained to the standards laid down by the Road Transport / Traffic Legislations and Company’s instructions

Essential criteria:

  • At least 2 years’ lorry driving experience and at least 5 years’ experience of operating mobile cranes
  • HGV Class 2 valid driving licence
  • Digital tachograph driver card
  • Must hold a valid CPCS (Blue Card) crane operator card
  • Good working experience of operating hydraulic crane lorries, i.e. HIAB lorry
  • An awareness of health and safety practices
  • Ability to work as part of a team building positive relationships with colleagues
  • Good co-ordination skills
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Be highly motivated
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and ability to travel and stay overnight in Great Britain when required

Desirable criteria:

  • Hold a CPCS (Blue Card) with categories such as slinger signaller, crane supervisor, appointed person, etc.
  • Ideally live within a reasonable travelling distance to the Company's Headquarters in Castlewellan, Co Down

Assistant Electrical Project Manager

Due to continued success and growth of the company, we are looking to recruit an Assistant Electrical Project Manager.  Reporting to the Electrical Department Manager and working as part of the electrical team, the candidate will be responsible for the planning of electrical installations from beginning to end and ensuring projects are delivered on time.

  • Location: Castlewellan
 
  • Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  •    Liaising with customers and management to meet the project requirements and specifications
  •    Identifying customer needs, with the ability to work to briefs and schematics

  •    Designing systems, reading design specifications and technical drawings

  •    Providing clear and concise AutoCad or similar schematics

  •    Researching suitable solutions     
  •          Ensuring projects meet electrical and construction safety regulations whilst working to British (BS), European (EN) and other standards
  •          Attending meetings on-site with clients
  •          Designing and conducting tests; both LV and HV including recording, analysing and interpreting test data, proposing modifications, retesting and qualifying the final product or system
  •          Preparing product documentation, writing reports, giving presentations and monitoring a product in use to improve on future design
  •          Working with PLC programming
  •          Estimating material, construction and labour costs, and project timescales
  •          Responsible for planning of installations from beginning to end along with the Electrical Department Manager and Project Management whilst coordinating Electrical Technicians and ensuring projects are delivered on time
  •          Developing and promoting the Electrical Department

 

Essential Criteria:

  •          Diploma/Degree level in Electronic/Electrical (or similar)

  •          Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Engineering

  •          Valid driving licence

  •          Excellent Maths, Science, Technology and ICT skills

  •          Practical experience of using electrical software to draw and interpret schematic drawings

  •          Ability to analyse problems and assess possible solutions, with strong decision-making skills and the ability to prioritise and plan effectively

  •          Capability of working in a fast paced, changing priority work environment

  •          Excellent team work and people skills, including a comprehensive understanding of electrical health and safety regulations

  •          Knowledge and practical experience of 3 phase electric motors, controls, solenoids, relays and other assemblies

  •          Experience of working with Ireland and UK Distribution Network Operator (DNO) Companies

  •          Ability to travel throughout Ireland and GB and stay overnight in accordance with the needs of the business

Desirable Criteria:

  •          Experience of overseeing and managing electrical engineering projects
  •          Knowledge of wind turbine installations and understanding of G59 processes would be beneficial but not essential
  •          Working knowledge of high voltage systems is advantageous
  •          Safe Operation of High Voltage Power Systems Certification
