Assistant Electrical Project Manager

Due to continued success and growth of the company, we are looking to recruit an Assistant Electrical Project Manager.  Reporting to the Electrical Department Manager and working as part of the electrical team, the candidate will be responsible for the planning of electrical installations from beginning to end and ensuring projects are delivered on time.

  • Location: Castlewellan
  • Salary: Negotiable depending on experience


Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  •    Liaising with customers and management to meet the project requirements and specifications
  •    Identifying customer needs, with the ability to work to briefs and schematics

  •    Designing systems, reading design specifications and technical drawings

  •    Providing clear and concise AutoCad or similar schematics

  •    Researching suitable solutions     
  •          Ensuring projects meet electrical and construction safety regulations whilst working to British (BS), European (EN) and other standards
  •          Attending meetings on-site with clients
  •          Designing and conducting tests; both LV and HV including recording, analysing and interpreting test data, proposing modifications, retesting and qualifying the final product or system
  •          Preparing product documentation, writing reports, giving presentations and monitoring a product in use to improve on future design
  •          Working with PLC programming
  •          Estimating material, construction and labour costs, and project timescales
  •          Responsible for planning of installations from beginning to end along with the Electrical Department Manager and Project Management whilst coordinating Electrical Technicians and ensuring projects are delivered on time
  •          Developing and promoting the Electrical Department


Essential Criteria:

  •          Diploma/Degree level in Electronic/Electrical (or similar)

  •          Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Engineering

  •          Valid driving licence

  •          Excellent Maths, Science, Technology and ICT skills

  •          Practical experience of using electrical software to draw and interpret schematic drawings

  •          Ability to analyse problems and assess possible solutions, with strong decision-making skills and the ability to prioritise and plan effectively

  •          Capability of working in a fast paced, changing priority work environment

  •          Excellent team work and people skills, including a comprehensive understanding of electrical health and safety regulations

  •          Knowledge and practical experience of 3 phase electric motors, controls, solenoids, relays and other assemblies

  •          Experience of working with Ireland and UK Distribution Network Operator (DNO) Companies

  •          Ability to travel throughout Ireland and GB and stay overnight in accordance with the needs of the business

Desirable Criteria:

  •          Experience of overseeing and managing electrical engineering projects
  •          Knowledge of wind turbine installations and understanding of G59 processes would be beneficial but not essential
  •          Working knowledge of high voltage systems is advantageous
  •          Safe Operation of High Voltage Power Systems Certification
